thesis because also that said at the end of the day

How has technology changed the way people live compared to the past?"

IH

Technology's changed almost everything. These days we do everything on our phones — shopping, banking, talking. Compared to the past, it's way more convenient. But I think people are also more distracted now. It's a mixed thing.

AL

Technology hasn't just changed what we do — it's rewired how we experience an ordinary day. Take something simple like waiting: back then, standing in line meant being bored, or talking to a stranger. Now that in-between time has been completely filled by a screen. On the upside, the convenience is staggering — I run my whole life from a device in my pocket. But here's what I keep coming back to: we've quietly traded away boredom, and I'm not convinced that's a clean win — boredom was where a lot of thinking used to happen. So while I'd never give up the tools, I do think we're still figuring out the real bill for all this convenience. We adopted it faster than we understood it.

How have the ways people spend their free time changed over the years?"

AL

Free time has undergone a quiet revolution. A generation ago, leisure was mostly communal and physical — people went out, met up, did things together. These days, so much of it has migrated onto screens; entertainment comes to us, on demand, alone on a couch. What's gained is obvious: endless choice, zero friction. What's less obvious is what's lost — the small effort that used to be required to have fun was also what made it social. I catch myself choosing the frictionless option — streaming instead of meeting up — and then feeling weirdly emptier for it. I don't think it's simply worse, but I do think convenience has a way of isolating us while feeling like a treat. That's the tension I think our whole generation is quietly negotiating.

How have people's living environments changed compared to the past?"

AL

Where and how people live has shifted dramatically, especially in a country that urbanized as fast as mine. My grandparents' generation lived in tight-knit neighborhoods where everyone knew everyone. My generation mostly lives in anonymous apartment towers, often alone, often not knowing the person across the hall. The trade is real: we gained privacy, convenience, and independence — and lost a kind of built-in community that people used to take for granted. What fascinates me is that we're now inventing apps to recreate the very connection our housing design removed. It says something about progress — that it often solves one problem while quietly manufacturing another.

What do you think about environmental issues in your country?"

AL

It's an issue where I feel genuinely torn between optimism and frustration. On the encouraging side, everyday habits here have shifted — recycling is second nature, and there's real public awareness. But if I'm honest, I've grown skeptical of how much of the burden gets placed on individuals. We're all dutifully sorting our trash while the bulk of the impact sits with industry and policy. I still do my partit's the right thingbut I've stopped believing that personal virtue alone is the answer. The real leverage is structural, and that's the uncomfortable part nobody loves hearing.

  2. 반론 한 문장을 붙인다("that said...").
  3. 추상 일반화 한 문장으로 닫는다("it says something about...").
